Mr Philippot was elected by the General Assembly in July 2008 to succeed Fritz Pleitgen (ARD) as EBU President for two calendar years from 1 January 2009. The remaining Board members were elected at the Assembly's winter session in November.
Claudio Cappon was elected Vice-President of the EBU at the December 2009 General Assembly (3-4 December). On the same occasion, Alexander Wrabetz (ORF) was elected as a Member of the EBU's Executive Board. Both Mr Cappon and Mr Wrabetz took up their functions immediately with terms that will continue until the end of 2010, as is the case for the remaining Board members.
