Europe ’s leading training symposium on D-Cinema and HDTV for industry professionals!

HD television is gradually replacing conventional television, although the transition is not always as smooth as we would want it to be. Consumers have been buying HD ready displays before any HDTV content is available. Thankfully, today, broadcasters are recognizing that a wide range of genres is appropriate for HD, not just sports and news, but mainstream drama and documentaries are moving into the HD arena as well.

The EBU has developed a Europe-wide HDTV training portfolio which intends to bring Television professionals closer together and to help them embrace High Definition technology with confidence. We have selected Insight-out to be part of our portfolio.

Insight-out is a high quality, high-end training and exchange forum where the cinema world and the TV world are finally able to confront the challenges of the digital revolution together.

EBU Internartional Training Scholarships

The EBU International Training sponsored 10 participants from ASBU/EBU member organizations.

Over 40 candidates applied for the scholarship. The selection was made on the basis of their experience and exposure to HD.

51 participants attended 6 intensive but truly exciting days on Digital cinema and HDTV.  The training was dedicated to decision-makers in the film, TV and new media industries and in film schools.

They learned from award-winning film and television experts from all over the world through lectures, expert panels, demonstrations and screenings, emphasized by a constant practical approach and providing a direct exchange with industry experts.

What participants said about

– "... I really appreciated the opportunity to be there and the workshop was really loaded with information and inspiration.

There were many advantages. First was presentations made by people leading in their fields. Second was the expo and variety of up-to-date equipment available around. Third is the covered issues and the level of them which was quiet appropriate for the participants interests most of the times. Also I would like to mention the atmosphere and the impact of dinners and other gatherings for developing good relations..."

– "...As a filmmaker this event/ course was very different to me than what I am usually use to ( I usually go to film festivals or film markets). If I want to summarize the benefits I would say:

  1. It updated my information in film technology.
  2. It introduced me to new technology.
  3. Because of the above points it enabled me to think how I can use what is in the market
to achive what I want and need in my film projects.
  4. I did network and met people whom I think can be helpfull in my future projects..."

All aspects of production were covered: scripting, pre-production, shooting and post-production. Participants explored the aesthetic impact of the most recent HD technologies and how they are applied in practise.
