Operations

The Music Group organizes annual Euroradio Seasons from September through June with about 150 coordinated music events, divided among series covering symphonic and chamber concerts, opera, jazz, early music, etc. as well as live all-day theme broadcasts (Special Days). The EBU also offers its Members exclusive European access to the Season of New York's Metropolitan Opera. On average, 24 countries in Europe, North America and Asia/Pacific participate in the Euroradio Season.

Traditional weekdays for the Euroradio series are:

Concert series: Each Monday at 20:00 CET, including 4 thematic series of 4 concerts each.

Opera series: Each Saturday at 20:00 CET

Cities of Music: A full week proposing live concerts from prestigous cities like Vienna, London, St. Petersburg, etc.

Special Days: Sundays; The "Christmas Music Day" always takes place on Sunday before Christmas; "Holy Week Music Special Day" always takes place on Palm Sunday

Jazz: Fridays at 22.30 CET

These series of live events are completed by an offer to broadcast live the whole Season of the Metropolitan Opera of New York, i.e. about 20 operas on Saturday evenings from December to April.
Aside from the broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera of New York, the European Broadcasting Union is privileged to offer on a regular basis to its Members live or deferred relays from the most prestigious European opera houses, with special relationships with the Vienna State Opera, the Paris Opera and the Royal Opera Covent Garden.

Moreover, the EBU coordinates Members' mutual and reciprocal offers of concerts or other music events ("pink offers"), which number around 3,500 per year. On average, each such event is transmitted, live or deferred, by some 8 Members. During the Summer, i.e. between mid-June and mid-September, there is a special offer (the Euroradio Summer Festivals) of more than 300 concerts offered live via the Euroradio satellite network.

Concerts are available on the   Euroradio satellite network, consisting of two digital channels available for EBU Members on the Eutelsat W3 satellite.

EBU Members consult and order all these concerts via the Internet by means of EBU MUS software.

Recordings sent to the EBU for satellite distribution must comply with the following specifications.
