Georges de Caunes (85) and Marcel Jullian (82) both passed away on 28 June 2004.

Georges de Caunes was the first presenter of the televised newscast in 1949.

Born on 26 April 1919, in Toulouse, he graduated from law school and went on to become one of the top reporters in the fifties, in various regions of the world. He returned to presenting televised newscasts again between 1963 and 1966.

Georges de Caunes was also head of TF1's sports service from 1975 to 1979. Very popular, he always knew how to balance pertinence and impertinence in his very own distinctive style.

Marcel Jullian was elected as Antenne 2's very first President in January 1975 and also presented the programme entitled "Ecran Total" on France Inter from 1986 to 1989.

He was born on 31 January 1922 in Châteaurenard in the South of France.

He wrote the screenplay for several films ("Le Corniaud", "La Grande Vadrouille", "Le Cerveau ", "la Folie des grandeurs") and for some well-known TV series ("Les Rois maudits", "les Hommes de bonne volonté", "Charlemagne").
