The President-Director General of RFI, Antoine Schwarz, has made clear RFI's intention to consolidate its presence in the traditionally 
French-speaking areas of Africa by putting more emphasis on local languages and also by relaunching RMC Middle East, which has seen increasing competition from various new stations broadcasting in Arabic.

Furthermore, Antoine Schwarz also specified that there had been no updates on the international news channel project.
