WIPO Committee recommends
a diplomatic conference in July 2007
Geneva, 14 September 2006 - The EBU is pleased with the result of a WIPO Committee meeting which has recommended the convening of a diplomatic conference in July 2007 to update the rights of broadcasters in their signal in the digital age.
Broadcasters have been working for over eight years for a new treaty; their rights have not been updated internationally for 45 years.
The EBU is looking forward to WIPO's upcoming General Assembly and is optimistic that it will adopt the Committee's recommendation.
