On 10 October 2006, 15 members of the EBU P/HDTP Group gathered in Geneva to discuss professional HDTV production. There are still many questions to answer, such as what is the relative quality of the newly announced HDTV studio compression schemes (JPEG2000, H.264 SP, Dirac, Long GOP MPEG-2, DNxHD).

In Geneva, the EBU members decided on an aggressive time scale to conduct tests of these formats in order to provide guidance to the members by early 2007. This is just in time for many members planning to build (new) HD facilities.
