An agreement was signed between the Dutch Foundation for the European Jazz Competition, the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam (Netherlands) and the European Broadcasting Union last Thursday in Delft (Netherlands).
The EBU is launching the first ever EBU Jazz Competition. All EBU Radio Members are invited to submit young jazz musicians as candidates to an EBU Jury which will listen to the recordings and nominate by 30 March 2007 four “Winners of the semi-finals of the 2007 EBU/European Jazz Competition”.
The four prize-winners shall be invited to perform at the finals of the 2007 EBU/European Jazz Competition, which will take place between on Saturday 14 July 2007 evening as part of the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam (Netherlands).
For the 2007 EBU/European Jazz Competition, the EJC Foundation and the NSJF shall invite to the finals the winner of the Dutch Jazz Competition as the fifth participating ensemble in the EBU/European Jazz Competition.
An international jury shall then award to the best of the five jazz ensembles the Grand Prix of the EBU/European Jazz Competition. It shall also award the Prize for "Best Soloist of the EBU/European Jazz Competition" and the Prize for "Best Composition of the EBU/European Jazz Competition".
