Internet Governance Forum

The Internet Governance Forum of the United Nations is gathering at EBU headquarters for 2 days in order to prepare the fourth IGF world summit that will take place in Sharm El Sheikh from 15 to 18 of November, at the invitation of the Egyptian government. Our Egyptian Member ERTU will be the host broadcaster of this event with the support of Eurovision.

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a multi-stakeholder forum for policy dialogue on issues of Internet governance. The establishment of the IGF was formally announced by the United Nations Secretary-General in July 2006 and it was first convened in October / November 2006.

100 participants from throughout the world are discussing the agenda of the Summit and the format of meetings and panels.

The main topics include net neutrality, a workshop on accessibility co-organized by ITU, EBU and the Coalition for Access, quality content on the net as well as the respect of human rights through the web.
