News you can trust, anytime and anywhere

On 7 October the EBU Brussels office organised a briefing for EU stakeholders and the media on ‘News you can trust, anytime and anywhere’. The aim of the briefing was to showcase how the EBU and its Members live up to EU audience expectations for accurate and unbiased information in a changing media environment.

Hans Laroes, Editor-in-chief of NPO (Dutch Public Broadcaster) and President of the EBU News Assembly, together with Peter Vickers, Head of the EBU’s Eurovision Marketing and Business Unit, presented the Eurovision network, a very important complement to the PSB's own national news productions, and explained how the Eurovision News Exchange system works in practice.  The briefing was moderated by Marit Ingves, Head of Office of the Representation of Nordic Public Service Broadcasters in Brussels.

The audience also learned about how public service broadcasters continue to offer these services in situations when they risk losing control over the quality and independence of their reporting, as happened recently following the Presidential elections in Iran. These challenges are growing continuously in the new media environment.
