The 109th Ordinary Session of the EBU's Legal and Public Affairs Committee took place, under the chairmanship of Mr Peter Weber (ZDF), in the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 29-30 October 2009, at the invitation of ARTE.

The Committee's agenda included a broad range of issues, including digital strategy (new media/technology) and copyright. 

The special topic focused on independent production, with a discussion bringing together a panel of representatives of broadcasters and independent producers.

The debate on copyright included discussion of the EBU’s proposals for copyright reform, for which the Committee was joined by three leading intellectual property experts.
