The Netherlands wins 7th Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Kyiv (Ukraine),  21 November 2009 – The Netherlands was chosen as the winner of the 2009 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, held tonight. It was the seventh running of the event, which was a co-production of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Ukrainian public broadcaster NTU.

Ralf Mackenbach with Click Clack received a total of 121 points. Luara Hayrapetyan from Armenia  finished second, and Ekaterina Ryabova from Russia finished third.

“Congratulations to the winner, and to the other 12 contestants who all delivered wonderful performances. It's unbelievable how talented these young children are," says Bjørn Erichsen, Director of Eurovision TV at the EBU.

The show was aired live in 12 of the 13 participating countries, as well as in Azerbaijan and Bosnia & Herzegovina. It was also broadcast live worldwide through a live stream on www.junioreurovision.tv

The winner was chosen by televoters and juries all over Europe.
 
The 13 participating countries (EBU Members) received the following points:

7  Georgia -  68
8  Malta - 55
9  Belarus - 48

As is tradition, the host country of the next Junior Eurovision Song Contest was chosen through a bid process. The bid for the 2010 running has been won by Belarusian public broadcaster BTRC, taking next year's contest to Minsk.
