European broadcasters elect new EBU Vice-President

 

Geneva, 3 December 2009 – Claudio Cappon, Director, RAI (Italy) was today elected as the new Vice-President of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). He succeeds former Vice-President Richard Sambrook, BBC (United Kingdom), who recently announced his resignation from the BBC.

The decision to elect Mr Cappon, who was already a member of the EBU's Executive Board, was taken at the EBU’s General Assembly which is being held today and tomorrow at its headquarters in Geneva. 

Following the election, Mr Cappon said: "It is an honor for me to take on this role. Together with the President and all the Members, I will work to ensure solidarity among EBU Members and a strong and vibrant future for public service media in Europe and beyond."
