As opera buffs well know, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, numbers among the leading opera houses in Germany, and its productions are world-famous.

As part of its music operations, the EBU Radio Department offers its public radio broadcasting Members some 3,500 concerts each year and also organizes thematic series as part of its Euroradio Seasons. Each Euroradio Opera Season makes available not only around 50 operas from theatres throughout the world, but also three series devoted exclusively to the Metropolitan Opera of New York, Paris Opera (Bastille and Garnier) and the Vienna  State Opera.

For the next Euroradio Season starting in September 2010, EBU Radio Members will have yet another prestigious series at their disposal: seven operas from the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, offered via Bavarian Radio’s Classical music channel BR-Klassik. This series will also feature audio and video interviews, and EBU Radio Members will be invited to the Bavarian State Opera on Monday, 26 July 2010 for a seminar about opera on the radio as part of the Munich Opera Festival.

The EBU Music Group is delighted with this new partnership, which will strengthen the bonds between public radio broadcasters and the most renowned actors on the international Classical music scene.
