Happy Birthday CCTV!
|
|
At the end of August CCTV celebrates its 45th birthday. Before
going to Beijing, at the invitation of his Chinese counterparts,
Jean Stock recorded a congratulatory message emphasising the
excellent collaboration that exists between Chinese television, the
EBU and Eurovision. In his message, the Secretary General also added that he looked
forward to another 45 years of fruitful cooperation. China Central Television, also known as CCTV, established in 1958,
is the national TV network of the People’s Republic of China.
CCTV employs 4,000 people and broadcasts 217 hours of programmes
daily on 13 channels. It reaches over 84 per cent of China's total
population. Regular audience figures exceed 1.1 billion! Many thanks to the Métropole Hotel for the use of its
terrace.
