ARD, ZDF renew satellite contracts
|

German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF have signed contracts with
Luxembourg-based SES ASTRA, enabling them to ensure the nationwide,
ubiquitous switch-over from analogue to digital satellite
transmissions. "The agreements therefore reflect the German Federal
Government's media policy target of discontinuing analogue TV
distribution by 2010, if market conditions allow," according to SES
ASTRA's press release. Some 14 million German households are currently equipped for
