Engineers for the Euroradio Summer Festivals

Each summer, engineers from our Member organizations come in pairs to Geneva for a
month-long training period at the Euroradio Control Centre (ERC). They are trained by Robert Cutliffe to assist in the coordination of the concerts in the Euroradio Summer Festivals (handled by the Radio Department's Euroradio/Classics Section) and are responsible for the smooth transmission of some 250 live concerts. This provides them with an opportunity to learn about everyday working life at the EBU and the differences between their normal tasks and international cooperation.

This is the third Euroradio engineer training stint for Bojan (on the left), who comes from RTVS (Slovenia). He enjoys these regular breaks from his job in Radio Slovenia's technical maintenance and development service to come and work on live concert broadcasts, where communication is paramount. He also likes meeting interesting people from other cultures and establishing contacts with technicians, enabling him to exchange technical and cultural experiences afterwards.

Slawek (on the right) is from Polish Radio. This is his first time in Geneva and he hopes, not his last. In Poland, he works at his organization's control centre in the new technology unit. He therefore feels very much at home at the ERC, but he feels he has learned a great deal through this cultural and technical exchange.

They love Geneva in the summer and particularly appreciate working alongside Robert Cutliffe.
