Radio - "Europe – the common home"

The EBU Folk and Traditional Music Project Group is launching a new project entitled "Europe – the common home"  (Ethnic Minorities and Music).

"Europe – the common home" will be held in conjunction with the Special Day on European Cultures on 12 October 2003, at the initiative of Prix Europa, the Council of Europe and the EBU Radio Department.

Public service radios are encouraged to take part in this project which will present the rich and varied music in a common European home.

The 20th century was a time marked by upheaval, war and changes in national frontiers. Fleeing their native countries, many people settled in other countries. These minorities have enriched their host countries by adding originality, colour and strength, particularly in the field of music.

EBU Members who would like to participate in this project are invited to send three pieces of music performed by national minorities living in their community. The contributions must be submitted by Monday 2 June to:

Jasna Vidakovic
