EBU's Swiss Member hosts the 2003 FIS Alpine World Skiing Championships in St Moritz

SRG SSR idée suisse, Switzerland's national broadcaster, is host broadcaster for the 2003 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships being held from February 1 to 16 in the resort of St Moritz, situated in the upper Engadin Valley in the Swiss Alps.

"SRG SSR idée suisse...has a long tradition of being the host broadcaster for world championships, particularly in winter sports," said Armin Walpen, director general of SRG SSR idée suisse. In St Moritz, the Swiss broadcasting corporation has put every effort into organizing world-class operations and working conditions to facilitate the coverage of the event by the international rightsholders on site, including more than 17 fellow EBU Members offering radio and television coverage.

Arthur Haechler, head of the 2003 St Moritz Host Broadcaster Project and chairman of the EBU Sports Group, said that planning and coordination for this event had been going on for three years. "Now it is time for action, transmission time," he added.
