Andrew Onalenna Sesinyi, who succeeded Abdelhamid Bouksani as
secretary general of the Union of National Radio and Television
Organizations of Africa (URTNA), paid his first visit to the EBU on
30 May 2003.
He came with Abderrahmane Khodja, director of Afro Vision,
URTNA's news exchange centre. Both officials were given an
extensive tour of the Eurovision control centre.
They attended the meeting of the Inter-Unions Satellite
Operations Group (ISOG) and held talks on the forthcoming World
Electronic Media Forum (WEMF) with the secretary general of the
North American Broadcasters' Association, Michael McEwen, the EBU's
head of governance, David Lewis, and the chairman of the World
Radio and Television Counci (WRTC), Guillaume Chenevière.
Mr Chenevière, a former director general of Télévision Suisse
Romande, is executive producer of the WEMF, a side-event to the
World Summit on the Information Society which will take place in
Geneva in December 2003.
The WEMF is co-sponsored by Switzerland, the EBU, SRG SSR idée
suisse and the United Nations Department of Public Information.
