ZDF / Iraq

A senior Iraqi presidential advisor, General Amir al-Saadi, voluntarily surrendered to US armed forces on Saturday in Baghdad. At his request he was accompanied by a news team from the German national television station ZDF.

Al-Saadi is one of the names published on the US Supreme Command’s list of the 55 high-ranking Iraqi officials wanted by the Americans “dead or alive”. Al-Saadi is apparently the first figure from the senior ranks of the Iraqi leadership to give himself up voluntarily to US forces.
