A special guest of the EBU was Prof. Mark Krivocheev.
At 81, he has enjoyed a remarkable career in broadcasting and has
made an enormous contribution to worldwide broadcasting standards,
and indeed continues to do so. Broadcasting must be a healthy
diet.
The Technical Assembly had several tough
nuts to crack in its deliberations. Broadcasting is set
for an imminent sea change - with half the world about to replan
its broadcast airwaves to allow for the growth of digital
television and radio. Broadcasters also have to wrestle with major
changes in ways to make programmes – the computer revolution bites
here too.
150 delegates attended the EBU Technical
Assembly.
Technical Committee
For structural reasons in the French Member
of the EBU, the GRF, it was necessary to elect a new member of the
EBU Technical Committee and a new Chair for the Technical
Committee.
The GRF nominated Daniel Sauvet-Goichon (GRMC/MCR) for the vacant
position on the Technical Committee, and he was elected.
Subsequently, after a nomination by Dr Arie Smit (NOS), Daniel was
also elected Chair of the Technical Committee.
