The first assembly of Human Resources
managers was held on Friday 4 April at the EBU headquarters in
Geneva.
The meeting opened with a welcome address
by the EBU head of Human Resources, Michel Poncet, who also defined
the mission of the EBU. A presentation on the mission of human
resources and its role in the business strategy was made by
Christian Trine from ALCOA.
Other themes and challenges tabled for
discussion included:
• Turning missions and values into
reality, Kate Smith (BBC)
• Managing the age pyramid, Thomas
Waldmeier (SRG-SSR Idée suisse)
• How to keep good staff and meet
staff expectations, Valerio Fiorespino (RAI)
• Making the recruitment process
fulfil actual needs, Suzanne Servais-Bontemps (RTBF)
• Elections of the steering
committee
The annual assembly is part of an on-going
initiative supported by the Human Resources Managers Group to build
a solid network of contacts and to promote open exchanges between
its members. These meetings will provide the opportunity to discuss
the different ways of tackling the challenges facing HR
Managers.
