Open source seminar in Geneva
on 1 and 2 October
Free software for the media?
Free Open Source Software (FOSS) is popular in the IT world, but how good is it for AV professionals? Can you really use Open Source software to produce and distribute programmes? What about the quality, costs and training? How does it relate to closed alternatives? What are the pros and cons and how should you decide on its use in your organisation?

Participants at the Open Source seminar on 1 October
To answer these (and many more) questions, the EBU organised an Open Source Seminar dedicated to software for the AV industry. International experts are introducing what Free Open Source Software actually means and are demonstrating tools for editing, animation, compression, mixing and distribution. For five packages, additional one-hour tutorials are available (click here or on the red button above for a complete list of demos and tutorials).
The event continues today, 2 October 2007 at EBU headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland).
This seminar is the result of a joint effort of the EBU Technical Department and EBU International Training.
