“Preparing for World Cup 2006” workshop was organized for Polish Television (TVP) in Warsaw on 23 and 24 May 2006 at their request with their aim to increase market share and improve audience satisfaction. 16 sports journalists were trained to make the best coverage of the Football World Cup 2006.
| The workshop was conducted by John Helm recommended by Eurovision Sports. John Helm has been one of Europe’s top football commentators for over 25 years. |  |

| He has covered seven World Cups, several European Championships and UEFA Cups. He is currently employed by UEFA to commentate on the Champions league for the world feed and has broadcast to over 170 countries at the World Cup in Germany. |
| Four practical modules: | | Module 1 | Preparing for opening day: research , information about players, background knowledge on World Cup, logistical requirements on location set-up. | | Module 2 | Commentary techniques for live coverage including accuracy of information, pronunciation, creating excitement for viewer and commentary style. | | Module 3 | Sports reporting and interviewing. | | Module 4 | The perfect broadcast - Including how to organize the commentary booth, create excitement for the viewer while giving accurate information, get the best out of interviewees (players, managers, referees, fans) and answer a key question: what makes good TV? |
