A two-day workshop organized in partnership with PTV Armenia and with the support of the Council of Europe.


Target audience:

Editors and journalists   

Objectives:   

  • get practical methods to prepare for the election and to cover it, 
  • get ideas for creative election coverage,
    useful techniques for coverage of Elections and Political news,
     
  • get methods for covering press conferences and non-visual stories.    


The workshop was conducted by Eric May, trainer and product manager for the development and operation of EBU International raining programmes.

CONTENT 

Module 1: Understanding the audience
Objective: to get methods for better understanding the impact of television news on audiences

Module 2: Visual storytelling
Objective: to identify techniques of visual language; to understand the connection between images and content; to get methods for creating effective sequences and other visual storytelling tools
 

 

Module 3: Press conferences   

Objective: to get methods for more effective coverage of press conferences and political news

 

Module 4: News graphics 

Objective: to get tools for composing clear, easy to understand news graphics; to identify methods to explain complex and political stories visually

 

Module 5: Natural sound
Objective: to get methods for understanding how natural sound fits in stories and reinforces content 

 

Module 6: Preparing for the election
Objectives: To identify key election issues affecting viewers; to identify candidate positions and party platforms and link them to key election issues; to get tools to build effective strategy for covering pre-election period

Module 7: Creative election coverage
Objectives: to find more effective methods of reporting the election process; to get tools to clearly and creatively explain the roles of candidates, ministers and the president to viewers; to identify creative methods for formatting election programming.


Module 8: Election night coverage

Objective: to get methods for organizing compelling election night coverage
