| Module 1 – Your Job
This introductory module will tell you “everything you ever wanted to know about your job as a news contact”.
It explains what is meant by a news contacts’ job, how news contacts work within the Eurovision News Exchange and within their own newsroom environment. A special section explains the skills needed for managing coverage of a major breaking news story. The Module is backed up with specific job descriptions, and a useful and entertaining DVD explaining “everything you ever wanted to know about your job as a news contact” in the digital world.
Module 2 – Pictures and sound A practical step-by-step course to make news contacts better television journalists, helping them express ideas visually, giving them techniques for using natural sound, and for choosing soundbites accurately and effectively. The Module features a DVD with examples and practical exercises. To sharpen their skills even further, participants can benefit from individual online coaching by an Emmy Award winning for this module.
Module 3 – The dope sheet This is where participants learn what makes a good dope sheet, the essential tool for getting your organization’s news items on the EVN. Participants will get tools to create dope sheets that are accurate, complete, and compelling, that “sell” your station’s stories to producers and editorial decision-makers via the EVN exchange. This Module is supported by examples and practical exercises on DVD. Participants also have the opportunity of getting individual online coaching by an Emmy Award winning to improve their skills in this area.
Module 4 – Processes and guidelines Participants get the skills they need to work professionally and efficiently with people across the EVN system, and useful tips for using the latest Eurovision News tool – the SuperPOP system – more effectively. Participants also get a handy reference for the rules governing access to the News Exchange, working with news agencies, and with their own contacts to make coverage of their own region or country more professional and competitive. |
