EBU members are concerned about the variety
of HDTV compression formats proposed for use in future HDTV studio environments, which are likely to imply a significant investment decision.
An EBU technical project is evaluating these formats. This week, the EBU member RAI
hosted a shooting session at its "Centro Ricerche" in Turin, especially to prepare dedicated test sequences in the HDTV formats 1080p/50, 720p/50, 1080i/25 and 1080p/25,
with help from TVP and the EBU Technical Department.

These sequences will be used to test the newly proposed HDTV studio compression formats in an effort to offer well balanced advice to EBU members. The sequences will be made available to all members participating in the EBU technical project P/HDTP and in the evaluation of the different HDTV studio compression formats.
The Technical Department will brief members on the developments in HDTV studio compression formats in its workshop planned for June 4–5, 2007.
