Journalist safety
The killing in the Philippines of around 46 people, including at least 12 journalists and eight media staff, has prompted the International News Safety institute (INSI) to call for full implementation of the 2006 UN Security Council resolution on the safety of journalists.
INSI Director Rodney Pinder said that, if confirmed, the death toll would mark the bloodiest day for journalists since 48 journalists and support staff were killed in a plane crash near Teheran.
