EBU President Jean-Paul Philippot met the recently appointed CEO of ICANN, Rod Beckstrom at RTBF in Brussels on 8 December. 

The scope of the meeting was to discuss the role that broadcasting could play in the convergence of media on the Internet and what ICANN could do in order to help protect the interests of broadcasters in the online world, in particular the concerns expressed by the BBC for the introduction of the new top level domains (TLDs). Privacy issues, cybercrime and child protection were also discussed. 

ICANN and EBU both reaffirmed their commitment to the continuation of the Internet Governance Forum.
