Special Assistance Project for EBU Members in need
EBU Vice-President Claudio Cappon has held talks in Sarajevo with the head of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) in the context of the Special Assistance Project for EBU Members in need.
Launched in 2008 as the successor of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, the RCC aims to sustain regional cooperation and development through a framework that supports European integration.
RCC Secretary General Hido Bišcevic and Mr Cappon agreed to convene a conference in September focused on the threat of a European digital divide and on the social and economic importance of sustainable independent public service media in the RCC region and beyond.
Most public broadcasters in the RCC countries are in desperate need of modernising their infrastructures for the digital era, particularly as the rest of Europe moves towards analogue switchoff.
