Teleradio Moldova has committed itself to implementing new strategic guidelines developed with the EBU in the framework of its Special Assistance Project.
TRM President Constantin Marin, TV Managing Director Angela Sirbu and Radio Managing Director Alexandru Dorogan signed a statement to this effect during a visit to Chisinau this week by EBU Vice-President Claudio Cappon and his predecessor Boris Bergant. Mr Bergant developed the guidelines for 2010-2015 on a consultancy funded by the United Nations Development Programme.
The top TRM managers thanked Mr Bergant for the detailed strategic document, whose contents they confirmed with a request that they be implemented in close cooperation with the EBU. Mr Cappon expressed the EBU's willingness to continue such cooperation in a spirit of solidarity. Signature of the document took place at a well-attended press conference.
In a subsequent meeting with Mr Cappon and the TRM management, Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat confirmed his full support for the proposed reforms in TRM, and their adherence to European values.
During Mr Cappon's previous visit to Chisinau, on 31 March, Mr Filat said TRM has been given independence from the government and that it is now up to Mr Marin and his colleagues to fulfil TRM's public service mission.
