Call for proposals

The call for proposals aims at the co-financing of announcements, magazines, fiction, games, clips, short programmes, entertainment, youth programmes, documentaries, series, infotainment and edutainment on three themes:

 
the enlargement of the European Union;
 the future of Europe;
 general information on the European Union.

Who is the European Commission looking for? 

TV and radio broadcasters and producers from the 15 EU member States only.

Broadcasters and producers from EU acceding countries (Estonia, Latvia, Poland Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Malta, Cyprus) are welcome to participate to this call providing a submission in association with a leading party legally constituted and registered in one of the 15 Member States of the EU.

What is the European Commission looking for?

It is looking for:

 

an ever-widening audience to better perceive the Union, its policies and institutions, its tasks and achievements;
 the improvement of the awareness of the role played by the European Iinstitutions in the lives of its citizens, and in particular the youth of today; 
 programmes
  1.to demonstrate that the EU policies are neither “distant” nor “alien” and that they have a positive impact on citizens’ daily lives
  2.to explain the reasons for which the EU has undertaken a new enlargement process
  3.that will contribute to improving the level of information available to the EU citizens on the new Member States as well as their explicit requests for information
 talented people who want to help address citizens’ concerns both in the present EU and in the future Member States.

The total funding for this call for proposals amounts to:

 €4m for theme 1
€4m for theme 2
€8.5m for theme 3 

Grants range from:

 €100,000 to €300,000 for TV proposals (themes 1, 2 and 3)
€25,000 to €75,000 for radio proposals (themes 1, 2 and 3) 

Closing dates 

The closing date for the submission of proposals on theme 1 (enlargement of the EU) is Monday 30 June 2003. Applications for theme 1 should be addressed to:
