Eurovision is delighted to announce the permanent extension of its network over the African continent. This new service delivery on Eutelsat 5 West will allow Eurovision to offer premium ad hoc and permanent transmission services over Africa.
“The African continent is the latest addition to our world map of dedicated infrastructure. This new capacity will provide African broadcasters with a wider choice of content as well as superior quality of service over a very popular distribution satellite at 5 degrees west," said Paolo Pusterla, Eurovision Head of Procurement & Partnerships.
This development completes the global reach of the Eurovision fibre and satellite network which is already fully implemented over Europe, Asia and the Americas.
The new satellite capacity responds to the African market’s rapidly developing and growing need for content amongst broadcasters on the continent. The number of sport and news events that require high quality coverage and global distribution is constantly increasing. Using Eutelsat 5 West to complement Eurovision’s existing network will contribute to giving these events even more international exposure.
