YLE
- the Finnish parliamentary elections
The 2003 Finnish parliamentary elections
are due to be held on 16th March. On election night, YLE headquarters
will be the media centre - for both domestic and foreign media
- where candidates, party representatives, media experts, international
observers as well as domestic and foreign journalists will be
present.
On election night and prior to the elections,
YLE will have a wide range of election programmes on television,
radio and the Internet. Forecasts and the results can also be
followed on mobile phones and other mobile devices. For the first
time, digital television viewers will be able to browse the election
pages on Superteletext.
YLE's election machine
This is now the sixth time that YLE has
produced its "election machine" to help viewers. It
contains nineteen questions on key themes. On the Internet, citizens
can answer the same questions as the candidates and test which
candidates in their own constituency have the closest opinions
to them. The machine helps voters to get to know the candidates
better and thereby choose their candidates. Responses from more
than 1,300 candidates are stored in the computer's memory.
The election machine is running from 18th
February to 16th March.
