EuroNews in Russian
EuroNews
and Russian public television RTR, a shareholder in EuroNews,
announce the terrestrial broadcasting of EuroNews' Russian version
in more than 27 million households throughout Russia. In addition,
EuroNews Russian service will be launched on the entire cable
and satellite networks in France, reaching more than 4 million
French households within a few weeks.
Sixteen months after launching its Russian
version, EuroNews is now broadcast terrestrially throughout Russia's
89 regions.
EuroNews Managing Director David Lowen
said he was "extremely pleased with the results of EuroNews
Russian version and particularly with its launch in France. Allowing
the Russian community living in France to access the channel's
Russian version was a real priority. This national launch shows
the interest of the major cable and satellite operators in EuroNews'
initiatives and reinforces our development strategy."
The
Russian version of EuroNews, launched on 17th September 2001,
was an immediate success with the viewers in this country. According
to a survey carried out by the Gallup Media Institute (*), EuroNews'
first audience results in the Moscow region show that on an average
day, 520 000 viewers watch EuroNews' programmes meaning a daily
reach of 7.5 %.
