IOC President visits the EBU

Salt Lake 2002

At the invitation of EBU President Arne Wessberg, Dr Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) visited the EBU facilities in Salt Lake City, accompanied on this occasion by the IOC Director General, Mr François Carrard.

Dr Rogge was received by EBU Secretary General Jean Stock, EBU Director of Operations Stefan Kürten, the Head of the EBU Sports Operations Group in Salt Lake City, Fernando Pardo, and the Director of the EBU Legal Department, Werner Rumphorst.

In addition to learning about the EBU's coverage, the IOC President also toured the master control room where most of the images carried by the various EBU members are generated. Dr Rogge noted with satisfaction that the European audience ratings for the Winter Olympics were very significant despite the time difference.
