EBU and IOC “Our relations with the IOC have always been good and we hope they will continue to be. The only real problem we’ve encountered here was with changes to the programmes at the end of the Games without the broadcasters, and that includes the EBU, being consulted beforehand. “Changes to the scheduling of the closing ceremony, for example, was not easy to manage but, fortunately for us, this ceremony was broadcast in the middle of the night. As far as I’m concerned, keeping an agreed appointment is simply a matter of principle. However, ultimately it didn’t upset members’ scheduling too much.
“Here in Salt Lake City we have provided more hours of coverage than any other operator. What’s more we invest more money in the event than all the other broadcasters put together. The EBU’s contribution to the Olympics is by far the greatest.” |
