The 2nd annual Women Executives in Media (WEM) meeting will take place in Copenhagen (3 February 2015). This networking event is geared towards women CEOs, directors general, and directors of TV and radio stations.
Created in 2013 by the EBU, the Women Executives in Media (WEM) group offers a forum for women media executives to network, share professional experiences, and work towards achieving greater influence in their sector.
Keynote speaker
The WEM network is proud to present this year's guest of honour, Maria Rørbye Rønn, Director General of DR (pictured above).
A graduate in law from the University of Copenhagen, Ms Rørbye Rønn worked for the Danish Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Culture before joining DR's Copyright department in 1995. She became Head of DR Law in 2001 and in 2007, her title was amended to Head of DR Law, Policy and Strategy with the consolidation of several departments.
She became the acting Director General in 2010 and was then officially appointed by the board in 2011.
Her talk will focus on the role of CEO, and navigating the complicated relationship between public service broadcasters and its stakeholders.
Programme
This year's programme (which runs from 10:15 to 15:30 CET) will include:
- Welcoming session by EBU Director General Ingrid Deltenre
- Keynote speech by guest of honour Maria Rørbye Rønn, Director General of DR.
- Moderated panel on creative content with Piv Behrendt, from DR, who has 15 years of experience working on broadcast strategies and building strong partnerships with outside creative and cinema industries.
- Moderated group work
