With public broadcasters under pressure across Europe, explaining the value they bring to societies becomes increasingly urgent. While the BBC pioneered some of the efforts of public broadcasters in this area, they are now exploring new avenues to understand their impact and deliver more meaningful and impactful arguments about their role.
To that end, the BBC commissioned a new piece of research to design a new framework based on the idea of dynamic public value. This new approach presents a more comprehensive perspective of the impact of the BBC, which includes its role as a market shaper.
For this event, we are bringing BBC and the researchers to present this framework and discuss how to apply it, a potentially inspiring session for all EBU Members looking at how to demonstrate their value.
Speakers will include Tom Carr, Senior Economist at the BBC, and Eleonora Maria Mazzoli, Researcher and Consultant at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Tom will provide the perspective of the BBC, which commissioned this report and is now exploring how to apply it, while Eleonora will bring the insights from the research she co-authored.
To prepare the webinar, we suggest you have a look at Creating and measuring dynamic public value at the BBC this webinar will be based on.
Organized within the framework of the Public Service Media Contribution to Society strategic initiative.
