Kids News Group

The Kids News Group (YNE) community is an active network of children’s news programmes all around Europe and beyond.

23 programmes from 22 members and sublicensees are a part of this community where they share experiences, strategic knowledge and best practices on how to reach best children aged 8-12. In a society where young audiences access news in a much more fragmented way than previous generations did, how do broadcasters reach their audience? Members of this community have developed a wide range of platforms and strategies, as social media have become a key gateway for children to access information.

In accordance with the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child (Art. 17) ensuring the right of being informed, Kids' news programmes aim to empower children with the knowledge that will help them to become mindful and responsible adults and citizens. They are followed by a faithful audience and are often used in schools, while many parents and adults also appreciate their clear and structured explanations.

Members communicate every day on the topics they will report on and exchange news items on a reciprocal basis. The EBU Kids News Group is part of the Eurovision News Exchange, drawing on the newsgathering resources of more than 70 EBU Members, sublicensees and media partners worldwide, providing EBU members with round-the-clock access to live and edited news stories as they happen across the globe.
