The Content Regulation Expert Group covers legal and policy areas including the AudioVisual Media Services Directive and related media law issues; regulation of online platforms and intermediaries; and legal issues related to content, freedom of expression, media and journalistic freedom and pluralism. The Platform (Business) Regulation Group focuses on laws and policies around online platforms that have an impact on public service media (PSM). These include competition enforcement in digital markets, rules governing platform-to-business relations, and issues relating to data driving the provision of PSM content.
Further to the DMA/DSA workshop held is Geneva last December, the EBU Permanent services would like to provide an update on the latest development of these critical pieces of legislation which are now reaching the implementation stage.
We will structure the meeting as follows:
- Digital Services Act:
- Presentation of the state of play of the implementation at European and national level, and
- key finding of our legal analysis (Scope of the DSA & PSM Online services)
- Digital Markets Act:
- review of the EBU implementation papers (Scope, Access to data, self preferencing) and
- preliminary feedback from the European Commission on our asks
- Update on recent initiatives in the field of platform & content regulation (CoE, UN, and others)
