18-year-old Viktoria Nowak from Poland won Eurovision Young Dancers 2015.
The final of the biennial contest was held at the New Theatre in Pilsen, Czech Republic, on Friday 19 June 2015. The 10 dancers in the competition performed solo routines before taking part in a group performance, with a jury then choosing two dancers for an exciting 90-second duel to decide the winner. Victoria Novak performed a solo routine Piece in Old Style to music by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki to win the 14th contest.
Eurovision Young Dancers 2015 was a coproduction by Eurovision and EBU Member Ceská Televize (ČT). The event was broadcast live in six of the participating countries, on youngdancers.tv and YouTube.
The aim is to provide a showcase for top-class contemporary artistic dance and place the finest young dancers in the international spotlight, in front of a large television audience.
The next contest was due be held in Malta on 9 June 2017, a coproduction by the EBU and PBS. Unfortunately PBS, who agreed to host the event in 2015, has due to circumstances beyond their control been forced to cancel their staging of the competition.
The EBU is currently looking for another host broadcaster but should one not be found in such a short timeframe the competition will not take place and is expected to return in 2019.
The Eurovision Young Dancers was first held in Reggio Emilia in Italy in 1985 and is a biennial event, alternating with the Eurovision Young Musicians.
