Concert for Understanding of Civilizations and Human Rights

Daniel Barenboim headlines special concert in Geneva

Earlier this year, the world-famous conductor and his orchestra performed an all-Mozart programme in the presence of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. This exceptional concert is available for broadcast by all Euroradio Members.

Euroradio offers an event in conjunction with the 65th anniversary of UN Human Rights Day, which takes place each year on 10 December. At the United Nations in Geneva on 31 October, Daniel Barenboim and his West-Eastern Divan Orchestra gave a Concert for Understanding of Civilizations and Human Rights. The Orchestra, whose objective is to promote reflection through music, is made up of young artists from Israel and Palestine as well as other Arab countries – an excellent example of understanding and integration.

Daniel Barenboim's speech during the Human Rights concert:

The imposing setting of the Human Rights Hall at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, which houses the Miquel Barceló dome, provided a stunning backdrop for the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in this concert aimed at promoting peace efforts around the world and highlighting the principles contained in the Universal Declaration.

This outstanding programme is available as a pink offer (SM/15/10/26/01) and for embedding as a VOD on Euroradio Members’ own websites via the Euroradio2See platform

Warm thanks to Mediapro and Alba Catalan Vidal for their support in making that concert available to EBU Members.
