EBU's Digital Storytelling Labs members work together to foster creativity and innovation in the fields of interactive and digital storytelling. Members exchange collaborative solutions, knowledge and ideas for innovative digital products and formats.
Group members are representatives of existing digital innovation and storytelling labs within EBU Members, including BBC, DR, DW, France TV, Czech Radio, NOS, NRK, RTBF, RTE, RTS, RSI, RTVE, SR, SRF, SWR, TVP, VRT and YLE.
Reporting to the Digital Media Steering Committee, the network is open to all EBU Members who have innovation teams developing new digital storytelling approaches and techniques.
The Storytelling Labs network was launched in June 2015. Originally it consisted of a series of visits and encounters between the group’s members.
The hosting lab presented its structure, workflows, work produced to date and integration within their organization and traditional broadcast, and then all visiting Members shared their own experiences.
Recently the meetings have evolved to a more focused approach on specific storytelling challenges by genre or technological opportunities. To bring added value to their network, participants of the Digital Storytelling Labs identified topics such as AI, car platforms, voice controlled assistants, audio formats, chatbots, web VR, eSport, which they would like the next meet-ups to address.
