Initially launched in 1986 as a one-day event to promote Dutch and Belgian bands, EBU radio stations joined the party in 1999. With the help of our partners Eurosonic Noorderslag and Europe's public service broadcasters, the Eurosonic Festival has grown into a 3-day extravaganza with nearly 200 European bands playing at 20 venues.
The 2021 Eurosonic Festival (ESNS), scheduled to take place on 13-16 January, will be held digitally.
Our Dutch 3FM colleagues are setting up an online platform on which videos will be uploaded and shared. EBU radio organizations are encouraged to contribute a pre-recorded video session of a selected act (Spec.s: format: 1920x1080 HD, stereo audio, 25 frames is ideal, but not a must).
All EBU Members, and not just those who would be sending bands and artists to Groningen, are also invited to participate in the European Music Week, which will take pl ace from Friday 8 to Friday 15 January. This will be a unique opportunity to focus on and celebrate European music in all its diversity and on all platforms.
