National workshop on public service news - MKRTV

Another of a series of workshops on public service news in the EU accession countries will be held in Tirana on 28-29 May 2013, targeting editors and journalists of the EBU's Macedonian member, MKRTV.

The two-day national workshop at MKRTV will build on a curriculum developed and fine-tuned by experts from the Eurovision ACADEMY, trainers, senior editors and managers during a regional seminar held in Zagreb in December 2012.  Part of an EBU action plan to strengthen public service media in EU accession countries, the tailor-made training will help journalists and news editors to work in accordance with the standards and values of public service media (PSM) and to analyse what distinguishes PSM from commercial broadcasters.

The national workshops adapted to the needs of each EBU Members in the region will be followed by a regional “train the trainers” workshop for promising individuals identified in the national workshops.  These national trainers will then roll-out a fully fledged training operation at national level, assisted, when needed, by the Eurovision ACADEMY.

The Partnership Programme has already organized similar workshops this year in Albania, Kosovo and Serbia (in both RTS and RTV).
