Content is the cornerstone of the public-service offer, and EBU members commission and acquire over 1.5 million hours of TV content every year for broadcast across linear and digital platforms.
The EBU’s TV Committee and genre expert groups are fora for discussion of strategic themes of relevance to teams working in commissioning, acquisitions, scheduling and strategy across our membership. By exchanging trends, views and best practices the groups’ collaborative work aims to strengthen their offers to national audiences. Outcomes from the groups are shared with the wider EBU community in the form of documents, reports, webinars and more.
The EBU also has a rich tradition of supporting collaboration between EBU members. Each of the genre groups contributes to the EBU’s wider co-production strategy which aims to facilitated deeper collaboration and co-production among public-service broadcasters. While the famous Eurovision Song Contest is the flagship public-service co-production, members collaborate year round on a broad portfolio of Eurovision co-productions, collective acquisition and content exchange projects.
We also aim to showcase the best of public service content through events and awards including Proud to Present, the EBU Formats Forum and the annual Rose D’Or TV awards.
