Partnership Programme completes workshop series on public service news
The last of a series of workshops on public service news in the EU accession countries will be held in Zagreb on 19-20 September 2013 targeting editors and journalists of HRT, the EBU's Croatian member.
The two-day national workshop at HRT will build on a curriculum developed and fine-tuned by experts from the Eurovision ACADEMY, trainers, senior editors and managers during a regional seminar held in Zagreb in December 2012. Part of an EBU action plan to strengthen public service media in EU accession countries, the tailor-made training will help journalists and news editors to work in accordance with the standards and values of public service media and to analyse what distinguishes them from commercial broadcasters.
The Zagreb event will conclude the first phase of a training scheme on Public Service News in the EU accession countries of the Western Balkans. The second phase will follow shortly with a regional “train the trainers” workshop for promising individuals identified in the eight national workshops. These national trainers will then roll-out a fully-fledged training operation at national level, assisted by the Eurovision ACADEMY.
The workshop is co-financed by the European Union.
