The second phase of the Public Service News training scheme in "EU Enlargement countries" will be launched in Pristina, Kosovo, on 21 March 2013.
The two-day national workshop at Radio Television Kosovo (RTK), established by the EBU in 1999, will build on a curriculum developed and fine-tuned by experts from the Eurovision ACADEMY, trainers, senior editors and managers during a regional seminar held in Zagreb in December 2012. Part of an EBU action plan to strengthen public service media in countries aspiring to join the EU, the tailor-made training will aim to assist journalists and news editors to define the standards and values of public service broadcasting and to analyse what distinguishes PSM from commercial broadcasters.
The national workshops adapted to the needs of each EBU Members in the region will be followed by a regional “train the trainers” workshop for promising individuals identified in the national workshops. These national trainers will then roll-out a fully fledged training operation at national level, assisted, when needed, by the Eurovision ACADEMY.
